Zane Brewer, 60, lifelong area resident, passed away Thursday evening, November 4, 2021 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

​ The son of Howard Ralph and Mary Ellen (Miller), Zane Troy Brewer was born February 20, 1961 in Perryton, Texas. He was raised on the family ranch along the Hackberry Creek SE of Hardesty, Oklahoma. He graduated from Hardesty High School with the class of 1979 and then attended Liberal Vo-Tech.

Zane and Nancy Marie Burton were united in marriage on June 17, 1989 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Zane worked as a fourth generation Oklahoma rancher and farmer. He always said I'm more a rancher than a farmer. He spent 30 plus years working as a plant operator in the natural gas field, for several companies - Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, Coastal Gas Company, and El Paso, retiring from Kinder Morgan in 2015. He was an active member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. Zane actively served as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Texas County Farm Bureau, and served as a board member for the Texas County Liv estock Show. He was actively involved with Boy Scout Pack 163 and Troop 163 where he enjoyed building pinewood derby cars with h is boys, going on camping trips, completing the 70 mile treks at the Philmont Scout Ranch with Zach and Travis, and mentoring other Scouts.

Zane was so proud of his boys, Zach, Travis & Nick, whether it was cheering them on during a football game, baseball game or showing their livestock in the show ring. He was always quick to give them advice on whatever they were doing – sports, school or work. Zane adored his loving wife, Nancy, and supported her in whatever crazy idea she asked him about . He had six sisters and often told people that he neve r had to wear hand me downs, being the only son. Zane didn't know a stranger, he often helped people he didn't know, whether it was a stranger alongside the highway, or talking to someone he just met.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Brewer, grandparents: Mac and Zella Brewer, Jake and Alta Miller; mother-in-law, Charlotta Burto n, and brother-in-law, Danny Burton.

Survivors include his loving wife Nancy Brewer of the home; his three sons: Zachary Brewer of Broken Bow, Nebraska, Travis Brewer of Hardesty, and Nicholas Brewer of Hardesty; his mother, Mary Ellen Brewer-Lane of Guymon; six sisters: Barbara and Leon Giles of Oklahoma City, Betty and Lee Cunnigham of Auburn, Washington, Leola and Jeff Merideth of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Dallas and Jim Mayer of Hooker, Oklahoma, Lisa and David Giles of Newalla, Oklahoma and Dee Fleecs of Nampa, Idaho. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

The Brewer family will greet friends on Tuesday evening, November 9 th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, November 10 th at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. David Player officiating. Interment will follow at the Range Cemetery, SE of Hardesty. Services are under the c are of Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

Memorials in memory of Zane may be given to the Texas County Livestock Show.  Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
