William Eugene Brooks, 89, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Wednesday February 12, 2020 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

The son of William McPherson and Iva May (Dickson) Brooks, he was born May 5, 1930 in Shidler, Oklahoma.

Bill graduated from Meeker High School in 1948. Following graduation he enlisted in the United State Air Force in March of 1949 and was honorably discharged in March of 1953. He was united in marriage to Katie Vivian Rawls on May 9, 1952 in Florala, Alabama. In 1953 they moved to the Guymon area, where Bill was field operator with Phillips 66, retiring in February of 1993. Bill was a member and served as deacon of the Grace Southern Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian on September 8, 2009, two sisters, Velma Rogers and Winnie Rinehart and one brother, Jerel Brooks.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Brooks and wife, Cheryl and Billy Brooks and wife, Tina all of Guymon; five grandchildren: Devra and Caleb Clinesmith, Talia Brooks, Karissa and Charles Reed, Tristan and Jon Leighnor and Tarah and Brent Richardson, and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, February 17th at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Southern Baptist Church with Rev. Darryl Hicks and Pastor Russell Steel officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The Brooks family will greet friends Sunday evening, February 16th between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Bill may be given to the Grace Southern Baptist Church Sign Fund. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
