Wesley A. Robbins' Obituary
Wesley Arlen Robbins, 83, of Guymon passed away Monday evening, February 27, 2017 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon.
The son of Beaver Johnathon "B.J." and Vera Alva (Sheppard) Robbins, he was born September 14, 1933 in Italy, Texas. He attended school and graduated from the Devine, Texas High School. He then attended Southwest Texas State Teacher's College, now Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where he received his BS in Agriculture Education.
Wes worked as a soil conservationist and agronomist. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.
Wes and Helen Marie Gray were united in marriage on July 15, 1961 at the Methodist Church in Devine, Texas. They moved to Guymon from Burlington, Colorado in 1997. He was a member of the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon, where he was active in the Methodist Men's group. He was 32nd Degree Mason at Knox City, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife of over 55 years, Helen Robbins of the home; one daughter, Dr. Sharon Robbins of Owasso, Oklahoma; three sons: Guy Robbins and wife, Stacie of Hugoton, Kansas, Mark Robbins and wife, Terri of Cedar Park, Texas, and Bill Robbins and Sarah Wilt of Guymon; eight grandchildren: Jänna Lee, BreAnne, Makinze, Taylor, Tyler, Cameron, Kaeli and Tab Wes; two great grandchildren: Eli Wesley and Kye; one brother, Telvy Robbins and wife, Gloria of Bandera, Texas; one sister, Vama Stanger of Idaho Springs, Idaho; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, March 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Holdeman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, March 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the Robbins family suggests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or to the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
