Virgil H. Brune, 82, lifelong panhandle resident, passed away Thursday, May 25th, 2017 at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
The son of Hugo William and Edna Anna Lena (Eggers) Brune, he was born November 5, 1934 on the home place NW of Optima, Oklahoma.
Virgil attended school in Optima and graduated from the Guymon High School with the Class of 1955. He served in the United States Army, and was engaged in farming. Virgil was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Liberal, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Doris Clawson.
Survivors include one sister, Kathryn and husband, Gary Roberts of Brownwood, Texas, one brother, Milton Brune and wife, Cheryl of Guymon, four nieces, Debra, Tina, Dalinda and Jennifer, four nephews, Chad, Stockton, Michael and Bryan. Survivors also include loving great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, May 30th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Wehling officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The family will greet friends Monday evening, May 29th between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Virgil may be given to the Grace Lutheran Youth and will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
