Vicente T. Costilla, 91, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026 at Doctor's Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas.

The son of Gabino and Apolonia (Torres) Costilla, he was born in Rock Springs, Texas, on April 5, 1935. He grew up with four brothers and three sisters.

Vicente and Katherina Mendoza met in Levelland, Texas and were united in marriage on December 10, 1956. To this union were born six children; Vincent Jr. (Astrid), Sylvia Gotcher (Alvin), Diana Worley (John), Judy Costilla Beasley, David Costilla (Rose), and Terry Bice (Donald). In 1965 they moved to Guymon, Oklahoma to raise their family.

Vicente took great pride in his agricultural trucking business, which he ran alongside his brothers for many years, working for Hitch Enterprises across the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles and surrounding regions. Vicente with his wife Katherina and daughter Terry opened the Acapulco Restaurant in 1994 on 12th St. in Guymon, where they served authentic Mexican food, later moving to Hwy 54 where they continued for many years.

Vicente was an active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church & Knights of Columbus. He was also a musician who loved and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing in the church choir and in his earlier days, he played the saxophone in the VC band.

Vicente is survived by his adoring wife with whom he shared 69 years of life and devotion; his children; 20 beautiful grandchildren and 26 beautiful great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Vicente gave his wife and family the gift of love, laughter, music, joy and wonderful memories that will be cherished forever. He has gone to be in his final resting place in God's eternal kingdom.

There will be a time of viewing at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home on Thursday evening, May 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Rosary services will be Friday evening, May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday morning, May 23rd at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Peter's.  Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
