Sidney Lawrence Smith, 83, of Texhoma, Texas, passed away early Saturday morning, September 17th, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Guymon, OK.

The son of Earl D. and Marie F. (Gengler) Smith, he was born on July 22, 1939 in Litchfield, MN. Sid grew up in a large farming family in Minnesota alongside 14 siblings.

After finishing ninth grade in 1955 his older brother Charlie bought Sid a bus ticket to Hardin, MT where he went to work on the Belinsky Ranch. He later met his wife Cynthia (Cindy) Elmore in nearby Miles City.

In 1964, he moved to Texhoma, OK again to join his brothers Charlie and Herman in their custom harvesting business. He farmed west of Texhoma from 1969 until 1993 and then began over the road trucking until his retirement in 2011.

He is survived by his wife Cindy; sons Miles (Clay) and Jason Smith and their wives Michelle Asher and Christina Luna; grandchildren Bryer Smith and wife Ariana, Bryanna Smith, Mikyla Smith and Noah Watkins, and Morgan Smith and TJ Murrell; great grandchildren Aidenn, Adelynn and Noel.

Viewing will be at the First Baptist Church in Texhoma Tuesday, September 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Graveside service will be Wednesday, September 21st,10:00 am at the Marella Cemetery in the Griggs community.
