Shirley May (Beall) Taggart, a long time resident of the Texhoma and Goodwell areas passed away in Hospice care in Guymon surrounded by her loving family on Thursday morning, August 10, 2023. She was born January 20, 1936, to Alvin Garrett Beall Sr. and Nannie May (Means) Beall in Mangum, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Alvin Beall Jr. and one who died in infancy; two sisters: Bobbie Saenz and Barbara Hundley; one niece: Glenna May; one grandson, David Behne; and one son, Garry Robison.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Mel Taggart. They were married July 5, 1968, in Woodward, Oklahoma. She is also survived by five of her six children: Susan (Jim) Mattocks of Guymon; Tina (Larry) Willis of Oklahoma City; Keith (Ann) Taggart of Oklahoma City; Allen (Rebecca) Robison of Eagle, Idaho; and Judi (Randy) Richardson of Seligman, Missouri. Other survivors include her much loved sisters-in-law, Ann Beall and family and June Dennis and family. Also, Nephew Bob Hundley Jr. and family. She was proud of all her grandchildren: Clint (Amy) Glazner, Shirlee Blasingame, Fara Robinson, Heath (Allison) Anderson, Danie Beller, Robert Kidd, Kari (Josh Dyer, Tyler (Tera) Mattocks, Corey Kidd, Season (Ty) McBride, Kaci (Bernard) Floranda, Michael (Lindsey) Robison, Shana (William) Roemerman, Crystal Landess and 31 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was fond of the many college students from OPSU when they would go into the College Corner Convenience Store which she managed, and they were also fond of her. They would ask, "Do you remember me?" She would smile and say, "Of course!" Some even worked for her, and they all thought of her as a Gem; she was loved by all who knew her.
There will be a viewing for family and friends on Sunday August 13th between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home. Memorial services will be Saturday, August 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the Texhoma First Baptist Church with Pastor Darren Carpenter and Tim Brittain officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to your charity of choice. Memorials will be accepted at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
