Sharon S. Martinez, 76, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Saturday morning, September 14, 2024 at the Integris Health Hospice House in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The daughter of Ernest and Charlotte (Sweet) Poage, she was born June 29, 1948 in Mooreland, Oklahoma.  Sharon attended school in Woodward, graduating with the Class of 1966, she then attended college in Weatherford and Alva, Oklahoma.

Sharon and Richard Martinez were united in marriage on June 24, 1972 in Woodward.  Shortly after they moved from Woodward to Guymon, Oklahoma and started House Siding Incorporated.  Sharon worked along side Richard as his secretary and spent many days keeping him in line.  Sharon was a patient and kind person that put many others before herself.  She had many health struggles in her life but you would rarely see her without a smile.  She was loved by so many friends and family.  Sharon was a longtime member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Richard D. Martinez of the home; two children:  Shawn Martinez and wife, Tina of Guymon, Oklahoma and Brett Martinez and wife, Melissa of Ulysses, Kansas; five grandchildren: Braedon & Anna Martinez of Edmond, Oklahoma, Mason Martinez of Carrollton, Texas, Gavin Martinez of Guymon, Oklahoma, Hunter Martinez of Ingalls, Kansas, and Brice Martinez of Watonga, Oklahoma.  Survivors also include two great grandchildren, Kit and Sullivan Martinez; honorary grandchildren, Erica Sharkey of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Kevin Sharkey of Guymon, one sister, Regina Wellman of Woodward, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many great nieces and great nephews.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, September 19th between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, September 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Guymon Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Kason Oakes and Rev. Nathan Jenkins of Norman, Oklahoma officiating.  Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery.
