Sammy Hernandez, 31, lifelong Texhoma resident passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 9, 2021 at his home.
The son of Ubaldo and Adela (Luna) Hernandez, Efrain Samuel "Sammy" Hernandez was born September 8, 1989 in Dalhart, Texas. Sammy attended the Texhoma school system, graduating with the THS Class of 2007. During school he enjoyed band and playing sports. He then attended UTI in Avondale, Arizona where he earned his degree as an automotive technician.
Sammy then began his career with Duncan Chevrolet in Stratford where he has worked for the past 12 years. Sammy loved spending time with friends and family, golfing, working with the chain-gang at Texhoma football games, and dancing his nights away. He also enjoyed cheering on his OU Sooners and Pittsburgh Steelers during football season.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Survivors include his step-mother, Maria de Carmen Hernandez and step-grandmother, Maria Adela Soto-Herrida of Texhoma; his four siblings: Christy and Jason Smith, Monica and Pedro Martinez and Hector and Shelby Hernandez, all of Texhoma and Angelina Cordova of Amarillo; his nieces and nephews: Bryer Smith and wife, Ariana of Texhoma, Bryanna Smith of Moore, OK, Roman and Pete Martinez of Texhoma and Briza, KayLeigha and Kylee Hernandez of Texhoma; great nephew and niece; Aidenn and Adelynn Smith of Texhoma; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, August 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Texhoma First Christian Church with family friends, Pastor David Moore and Pastor Eleacer Galindo officiating. Interment will follow at the Texhoma Cemetery.
Memorials in Sammy's name can be made to the Texhoma High School Band and will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com .
