Raymond Truitt "R.T." Brooks, 81, of Guymon passed away Monday evening, August 24, 2009 at the Pampa Nursing Center in Pampa, Texas.

The son of Walter Berry and Lola Frances (Wheeler) Brooks he was born on August 27, 1927 in Guymon.

At the age of seventeen R.T. served in the United States Navy in the Seabees. Following World War II he returned home and graduated from the Guymon High School with the Class of 1947.

R.T. was united in marriage to Elizabeth Quesenbury on December 24, 1949 at Clayton, New Mexico.

He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 33 years; retiring in 1985 as field operator.

R.T. joined the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough in 1997. He and Elizabeth enjoyed many years of traveling and seeing many different places. R.T. also enjoyed flying his plane, fishing, and camping in the mountains.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Geraldine Rowbotham, and one brother, Kenneth Brooks.

R.T. is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth of the home; one son, Berry Brooks and wife, Diane of Pampa, TX; two daughters, Sherry Brooks of Pampa, and Shawna and husband, Arnoldo Portillo of Guymon. Survivors also include one brother, Bob Brooks and wife, Lois of Sevierville, TN; twelve grandchildren: Michael Adams and wife, Mia, Lisa and husband, Brian Barnum, Lori Brooks, Sarah Savoir, Tarah Burnett and husband, James, Heather Lewis and husband, Brandon, Terry Brooks, Lacey Brooks, Derek, Dylan and Danica Portillo, and Kira Oliver; thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, Rosstyn Truitt "R.T." named after his grandad; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, August 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough, OK with Rev. Jacki Banks pastor officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The Brooks family will greet friends Thursday evening, August 27th between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home.

The family suggest memorials be given to the Pampa Nursing Center, BSA Hospice of Pampa or the Morning Star United Methodist Church. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
