Rosalee Reed Hendrix, 91, of Hardesty, OK, died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Good Samaritan Center in Liberal, KS.
She was born November 18, 1927 in Miami, TX, the only child of D.H. Reed and Virginia Elizabeth (Logan) Reed.
Rosalee's parents were living on a farm in Ochiltree Co., TX and fear of a doctor not being available due to bad weather when Rosalee's birth approached, they crossed the Canadian River in a wagon to be near a doctor. She was born in the home of her grandparents, the JA Reeds, near Miami, TX. Rosalee began elementary school at Waka and attended Morse Elementary. She spent her high school years at Perryton and graduated in 1945. She attended Northwest Texas State College at Denton, TX. On Feb 9, 1947 Rosalee married Joye Travis (Jack) Hendrix in Perryton, TX. Three girls were born to this union: Cynthia Lee in 1948, Shanna Joye in 1949 and Rene' Marie in 1952.
Besides raising her family and being a homemaker, Rosalee was a librarian, licensed cosmetologist, owned and operated a laundromat, caregiver to elderly and children and a school bus driver.
As a young woman Rosalee accepted Christ as her Savior. Her faithfulness to this decision was a testimony to many. She was a Lay Minister and spoke at area churches. She gave the children's sermons and reenacted costumed Bible stories.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, son-in-law Dennis "Pete" Farris, grandson Wil Avent and grandson-in-law Jimmy Kenney.
Survivors include her daughters: Cynthia DeArmond and husband Billy of Spearman, TX; Shanna Medeiros and husband Danny of Liberal, KS and Rene' Avent and husband Boots of Stinnett, TX; five grandchildren Clint DeArmond and wife Emily of Spearman; Shanna Lee Kenney of Spearman; Michelle Keith and Victor of Guymon; Wes Avent of Canadian, TX, and Jody Nolen and husband Wesley of Borger, TX; nine great grandchildren Cooper DeArmond of Austin, TX, Hunter Kenney of Stephenville, TX, Halston Kenney of Carlsbad, NM and Barrett Kenney of Spearman, Hope Dale and husband Bryan of Wichita, KS, Harrison Keith and wife, Kaitlyn of Hardesty, Caden, Jenna, and Cutler Nolen of Borger; and five great, great grandchildren, Trent Johnson of Wichita, KS, Alexzander Keith, Shane, Shira, and Rhett Keith of Hardesty.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, February 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Hardesty United Methodist Church with Chris Liebman officiating. Burial will follow at the Hartville Cemetery, southeast of Hardesty. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
