Ronald Lee Swenson, 77, lifelong Hooker resident, passed away Tuesday evening, July 13, 2021 at his home.

The son of John and Erna (Tutzschke) Swenson, he was born June 5, 1944 in Hooker.  Ron attended school in Hooker, graduating with the Class of 1963. Ron and Melva Tebo were united in marriage on July 10, 1965 in Amarillo, Texas.

Ron was an avid fisherman, and loved spending time at the family cabin in Ute Park, New Mexico. Ron loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Teaching them to play pitch and fish for rainbow trout are just a few of the wonderful memories he passed on to all of them.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator with Texas County District 1, retiring in 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Erna Swenson; sisters, Ruth Nash and Evaleen Cutts; and brothers, John "Bud" Swenson and Charles Swenson.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Melva of the home; daughters: Carrie and husband, Terry Schneweis of Amarillo, Texas and Kristy and husband, Devin Mages of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Survivors also include four grandchildren: Tyler and Whitney Schneweis of Amarillo, Logan and Angela Schneweis of Amarillo, Landon Mages of Stillwater and Austin Mages of Stillwater, and one great grandson, Briar Schneweis of Amarillo.

The Swenson family will greet friends Friday afternoon, July 23rd from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the Hooker First Christian Church, 314 Broadway St.  A graveside service will be Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Hooker Cemetery with Pastor Tina Rickman officiating. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
