Rob
Hager
Aug 27, 1952 — May 11, 2025
Robert "Rob" Paul Hager, 72 of Texhoma Oklahoma passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at BSA Hospital in Amarillo Texas.
The son of Harold and Emma Jean (Wise) Hager, he was born August 27,1952 in Eureka, Kansas. The family moved back to Texhoma in 1955, and Rob attended Texhoma Schools. Rob was united in marriage to Debbie Auld and together they had 2 children, Robert and Candace.
In 1984 Rob became a licensed drug and alcohol counselor, receiving many certificates. Working with patients was one of Rob's great passions and he always loved helping others find their sobriety and keeping it. He worked in many programs in many states and also helped implement new programs still used today.
Another passion of Rob's was the great outdoors. He enjoyed camping and being under the stars every chance he got. Rob spent several years camping at the Canadian River near the Widow Maker. He loved meeting new people and learning about their lives. This is where he acquired the name "River Rob" and everyone knew who he was and were to find him if an occasion acquired to need to be pulled out of the mud, which he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Repeat visitors always loved to come back and visit their new friend "River Rob" and enjoying a good laugh and a campfire. Some of Rob's greatest memories were out at the river with family riding dirt bikes and four wheelers or taking long hikes. He always loved spending time teaching the grandkids about nature and hunting for arrow heads.
Rob had many travels, but he always ended up back in Texhoma with family. In 2010 Rob returned to Texhoma to be able to spend more time with family and be closer to grandkids. He always shared childhood stories with them about his spending time at Grandma Hager's and was always willing to take them on trips to the mailbox and up the hill to look over the old homestead.
Rob is proceeded is death by his parents, Harold and Emma Jean Hager, his oldest brother, Joe Hager and granddaughter, Jessika Alexander.
