Obituary

Rick Wale, 69, longtime Guymon resident passed away Wednesday evening, February 12, 2020 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.

​The son of Richard Hurron and Leah Darlene (Lee) Wale, Ricky Gerald was born August 16, 1950 in Safford, Arizona.  As a young child, the family moved to Guymon, where Rick attended the Guymon school system, graduating with the GHS Class of 1969.

​Rick proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboar d the USS Intrepid.  Following his honorable discharge on November 8, 1971, he returned to Guymon.  Rick and Sharlene Stokes were united in marriage on June 21, 1974 in Hardesty, Oklahoma.

​Rick owned and operated 54 Towing & Recovery where he devoted his service for many years.  When health forced his retirement, Rick enjoyed gardening, building truck models and became an avid movie fan.  He was a member of the Guymon First Assembly of God.

​He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Richard Wale; his brother, Steve Wale and his father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Lorene Stokes.

​Survivors include his loving wife of over 45 years, Sharlene Wale; his son, Kevin Wale; his mother, Darlene Wale and his sisters-in-law: Johnnie Faye and Phyllis Stokes all of Guymon.  Rick is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

​Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, February 15th at 2:00 p.m. at the Guymon First Assembly of God with Pastor George Kraft and Rev. Richard Martin officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.  Services are under the care of Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, February 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
