Obituary

Peter Joseph Garcia, 80, passed away Saturday afternoon,  January 1, 2022, at his home in Guymon.

The son of Lorraine Wiekel, he was born June 6, 1941 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  He was raised by his grandparents, Lorenzo and Ignacita (Cata) Garcia.

Pete served in the United States Army.  He moved to Guymon from Dumas, TX in 1968.  He and Hope Esther Laguna were united in marriage on May 8, 1970 in Guymon.

Pete worked as a press operator for Adams Hardfacing, he then worked for Seaboard Foods in packaging until his retirement in 2019.  He was a member of the Catholic Church, and coached boxing with the Guymon Boxing Club for twenty years.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Wickel; his grandparents, Lorenzo and Ignacita Garcia; sister, Mary Helen Eastland; brothers, Alfred, Junior, Gilbert and Paul Garcia; infant daughter, Enacita L. Garcia; granddaughter, Britne' Woodring and great grandson, David Perez.

Survivors include his wife, Hope of the home; eight children: Delia Nolan-Topper and husband, Jody of Boise City, OK, Esther Castillon and husband, Mario of Green River, WY, Carl Nolan of Boise City, OK, Pete Garcia, Jr. of Guymon, Rocky Garcia of Mission, TX, Barbara Homan and husband, Bob of Guymon, OK, Richard Garcia and wife, Holly of Guymon, OK, and Junior Garcia of Guymon, OK.  Survivors also include three sisters: Francis Moorehead and husband, James of Phoenix, AZ, Manuelita Chamblee and husband, Jerry of Guymon, OK, and Mary Johnson of Fritch, TX; 18 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, January 5 th at 2:00 p.m. at the Guymon Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Steve Lehew of Altus, OK officiating.  Interment with US Army Honors will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday January 4 th between the hour of 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon.  Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com .
