Nicanor Teodoro "Nick" Martinez, 78, passed away Tuesday morning, November 3, 2020 at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Nick was born December 27, 1941 in Mosquero, New Mexico, the son of Pedro and Bonifacia Martinez.  Nick was raised in Mosquero, where he attended school.  He moved to Guymon, Oklahoma in 1971.

Nick and Ila Mae Martinez were married on November 30, 1973 in Guymon.  Nick worked in the construction industry for many years.  Following his retirement, he worked as a greeter at WalMart, where everyone could expect a fun greeting or story from Nick – he never met a stranger.  Nick and Ila moved to Colorado in 2014.  He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Bonifacia Martinez; three infant sons; three brothers: Eppy, Salfo and Mike Martinez; one sister, Vicki Martinez; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Martinez; and two grandsons: Daniel DeLeon and Andrew Bontrager.

He is survived by his wife, Ila Martinez of the home in Greeley, CO; his children:  Nick Martinez, Jr. of Dalhart, TX, Robin Bontrager and husband, William of Middlebury, IN, Kathy Martinez of Greeley, CO, Julie Martinez of Dalhart, TX and their mother, Margie Richmond of Dalhart, TX, and Katie Martinez and fiancé, Chip Severson of Evans, CO; his grandchildren: Jessica Fernandez and husband, Junior, Nick Martinez, Dominic Martinez, and Noah Martinez all of Dalhart, TX, Felicia Martinez of Elkhart, IN, Sonja Miller, Mariah DeLeon, and William Bontrager, Jr all of Middlebury, IN, Michael Garcia, II of Greeley, CO, Anthony Ramirez of Guymon, OK, Kye Ramirez and fiancee, Stephanie Shannon of Amarillo, TX, AJ Vigil of Middlebury, IN, Kayla Vigil of Dalhart, TX, Esperanza and husband, Francois Neethling of Ozark, MO, Serenity VanLeer of Dalhart, TX, Austin Noland of Thorton, CO, Jordan Noland and wife, Erin of Colorado Springs, CO and Heavenleigh Martinez of Evans, CO; along with many great grandchildren and his siblings: Johnny Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO and Pauline Bowen of Albuquerque, NM

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, November 14 ^th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Guymon with Very Rev. Christopher Brashears, officiating.  Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.  Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 13 ^th from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
