Obituary

William Lawrence Neal Cook, 76, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Thursday morning , October 20, 2022 at the Heritage Community Manor.

The son of Chester Paul and Martha Lois (May) Cook, he was born August 7, 1946 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Neal graduated from the Boise City High School, attended college OPSU and Temple Junior College in Temple, Texas earning his Bachelor of Science Degree.  He served in the US Army during Vietnam.  Neal worked with the DHS Veterans affairs.  He was active with the VFW, enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time at the Coffee Shop.

Neal and Esperanza "Hope" Benavides were united in marriage on November 18, 1972 in Belton, Texas; she preceded him in death on February 16, 2011.  He is also preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Martha Cook, an infant brother and son-in-law, Jamie Mandrell.

Survivors include three daughters: Katherine Ballard and husband Ronnie of Kansas City, Missouri, Rebecca Schallert and husband Bill of Guymon and Summer Smith and husband Greg of Auburn, Nebraska.  Survivors also include ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Shirley Jenson of San Antonio, Texas and brother Harry Cook and wife Joy of Springfield, Missouri.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date to be announced.  Memorials in memory of Neal may be given to the Guymon American Legion.      Memorials will be accepted at Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, P.O.
