Nancy Rose Boyett, 85 passed away January 18, 2023 at Guymon Memorial Hospital. She was born January 17, 1938 to Edwin and Minnie T. (Willis) Bunger. She grew up in the Straight, OK Community where she attended grade school. She then attended and graduated from Guymon High school with the class of 1956.
Shortly after graduation, she attended beauty school in Tulsa, OK. She quickly returned to Guymon to use her new skills at her job at Ester's Dress Shop in downtown Guymon and to marry her high school sweetheart, Jimmie Joe Rogers. From this union, three daughters were born. While raising her girls, Nancy did baby sitting in her home, took in ironing, and worked as a clerk at the Sinclair Truck Stop.
In 1970, she started a new job working for Alex Hofferber at Hofferber Truck Line. In 1970, she also met and married the second love of her life, William H. (Johnny) Johniken. Johnny had three adult children, now her stepchildren, so she quickly set to taking them under her motherly wings.
In 1987, Nancy would marry the third main man of her life, Alvin E. Boyett. With this marriage, Al brings seven stepchildren. She now has a baker's dozen and she is so proud.
In 1989, the new store came to town and Nancy started working for Walmart, three weeks before it opened in Guymon. She would be one of the longest employed person for Guymon Walmart and she bragged that she made her very best friends working at this job. She would work for Walmart for just short of thirty years, until her health would no longer allow her to.
After retirement, she spent a couple years at the Heritage Center in Guymon, doing her favorite things, playing board games and talking. When the COVID epidemic came, she came to live at her daughter Lorri's house and she learned her two next past times, playing games on the IPAD and texting. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church.
Nancy is survived by her brother Herman Bunger and his wife Vicki; her children: Erica and Danny Neal, Lorri and Ivan Clark, Amy and Joe Kane, Karen and Buck Hall, Vicky Terrell, and Mildred and Keven Muirheid. Her grandchildren: Brian, Brandi, Janna, Andrea, Steve, Desiree, Sheree, Terah, Tenae, Kourtnei, Lisa, Brad, Zac, Kilie, Sean (Audra), Carson (Bailey), Camry, Josh and Kristen. Her great grandchildren: Sam, Shane, Sean, Ace, Arrington, Harli Jo, Adler, Dalton, Luke, Barrett, Bowen, Kamden, Brayson, Brooks, Mitchell, Morgan, Skey, Shaynee, Presley, Gage, Arayah, Amiyah, Aliyah, Mia, Morgen, Zoe, Cooper, London, Kezlee, Greyson and Ross; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; her sister Edwina Palmer; her three spouses; her stepson Cecil Johniken; her stepson Todd Boyett; her great granddaughter Breklann Rylee, and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will greet friends at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Sunday, January 22 nd from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, January 23 rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Guymon First Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Carter and Rev. Randy Caddell officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.
