Hardesty
Morris Bowles, 90, longtime Texas County resident passed away Monday morning , May 31, 2021 at his home SE of Hardesty, Oklahoma.
The son of Ernest McKinley Bowles and Gladys Irene (Washburn) Bowles, George Morris Bowles was born December 1, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas. The family moved to the Bowles family homestead SE of Hardesty when Morris was four years old. He attended school in Hardesty and then proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Morris farmed and ranched his entire life on the land his grandfather homesteaded. He also worked for Natural Gas Pipeline of America, retiring in 1985.
Morris and Betty Lou Weakley were united in marriage on August 1, 1989 in Guymon. He was a member of the Guymon Masonic Lodge and the Bethel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dennis Bowles and one sister, Barbara Reimann.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Bowles of the home; seven children: Dr. Bill Bowles and wife, Dawn of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Mark Bowles of Garden City, Kansas, India Bowles and partner, Skipper Ray of Padre Island, Texas, Rhonda Almagner and husband, Avelino of Durant, Oklahoma, Ronald Linscott of Atoka, Oklahoma, Deborah Perkins of Atoka, Oklahoma and Brenda Fleming and husband, Jeff of Sullivan, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one brother, Dick Bowles and wife, Juanita of Lubbock, Texas; and sister-in-law, Sue Wood of Perryton, Texas.
The family will greet friends at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home on Friday evening , June 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon , June 5 th at 2:00 p.m. at the Gibson Baptist Assembly, 11 miles E. of Hardesty with Rev. Jim Reeves officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Range Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home.
