Monte Robert Ralstin, 66, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
The son of Donald R. and Bettie Ruth (Taylor) Ralstin, he was born August 11, 1952 in Guymon, Oklahoma. Monte attended high school in Guymon, Oklahoma, graduating with the GHS Class of 1970. He was a graduate of Oklahoma City University with a Masters in Music and Piano. Monte then moved to New York City, where he was an actor and voice teacher for nearly 20 years. He then moved to Tucson, Arizona where he was a Music Director/Vocal Coach at the University of Arizona for approximately 19 years.
Monte was a performer and performed in numerous regional theaters, national tours, and internationally. He was seen in the European production of Cats in Zurich, Switzerland, and the European tour as Old Deuteronomy, Gus/Growltiger, and Bustopher Jones. Monte had received the College of Fine Arts Charlie and Irene Putnam Award for Excellence in Teaching and the College of Fine Arts Undergraduate Advising/Mentoring Award. He was a member of Actors' Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Monte was preceded in death by his father, Donald R. Ralstin, Sr.; mother, Bettie Ruth Ralstin Williams; and his brother, Donald R."Rick" Ralstin, Jr.
Survivors include his brother, Todd Ralstin of Oklahoma City; his uncle, Ray Ralstin of Guymon; two aunts: Edith Schriber of Borger, TX and Billie Ann Robinson of Guymon; nephew, Travis Ralstin; nieces: Tiffany Ralstin Pierson, Molly R. Ralstin, and Audrey DeFrank, and in excess of 20 plus cousins.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday morning, February 2nd at 10:30 a.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Chapel with Rev. David Player, pastor of the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Private inurnment will be at the Ralstin family plot in the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Monte's name can be made to the American Cancer Society. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com .
