Merlin Gale Deane, 89. lifelong area resident passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at his home in Guymon.

The son of Merle and Evelyn (Woods) Deane, he was born May 9, 1932 on the homeplace near Eva, Oklahoma.  This is where he was raised and attended school in a country school.

Merlin proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, receiving his honorable discharge on December 22, 1955.  He then returned home and farmed for local farmers before beginning his career with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline.  He retired as a measurement tech after 33 years of service.

Merlin enjoyed woodworking and gardening, especially raising tomatoes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Evelyn Deane; two brothers, Dewey and Jerry Deane and one sister, Betty Hirn.

Survivors include two sons: Justin Deane and Travis Deane, both of Guymon; four grandchildren:  Zachary Deane, Kilie Ramirez, Ty Deane and Tana Venegas; and nine great grandchildren.

At his request, cremation has taken place and the family will have a private celebration of his life.  Arrangements are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
