Martha M. Gibson, 82, of Guymon passed away Thursday evening , March 12, 2020 at the High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas.
The daughter of Rev. Russell and Helen (Wassom) Sloan, Martha was born November 24, 1937 in Rozel, Kansas. She was raised in multiple towns in Kansas, Texas and Guymon, Oklahoma, graduating with Guymon High School Class of 1955.
Martha met Dale Albert Gibson in Guymon and they were united in marriage on September 11, 1954.
Martha was a member of the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon. She was a very accomplished seamstress and quilter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Russell and Helen (Wassom) Sloan; her husband of 57 years, Dale Gibson; sister, Mary Aldridge; brother, John Sloan and son-in-law, Gene Phillips.
Survivors include her daughters: Mary Ann Cooley and husband, Wes of Lakin, Kansas and Glenda Phillips and husband, Kenneth Shrout of Guymon; one son, Tom Gibson and Barbara Berry of Scott City, Kansas; six grandchildren: Vanessa Minnis and husband, Mike of Augusta, Kansas, Wesley Cooley of Wichita, Kansas, John Cooley of Lakin, Kansas, Megan Cooley of Kansas City, Kansas, Alan Phillips of Russell, Kansas and Jake Gibson of Scott City, Kansas; four great grandchildren: Demile and Dailynn Minnis of Augusta, Kansas, Irene Fraser of Plainville, Kansas and Emery Phillips of Hays, Kansas; and one sister, Betty Baxter of Pampa, Texas.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday morning , March 16 th at 11:00 a.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Mark Watson officiating. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
Memorials in Martha's name can be made to High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas or to a charity of choice. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942 . Friends can sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com .
