Marshall Durbin, 66, Guymon resident for the past 40 years, passed away Friday morning, May 18, 2018 at his home following a brief battle with cancer.
The son of Harold Eugene and Lucille Lorene (Spaulding) Durbin, Marshall Hoyt Durbin was born August 2, 1951 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. Marshall was raised in the Bryan's Corner community and attended Balko schools, graduating with the Class of 1969. He then attended Panhandle State University, where he graduated with his degree in accounting in 1973.
Marshall began his career in feedlot accounting in Perryton, Texas. He then worked in Dodge City, Kansas and Garden City, Kansas before being transferred to Guymon, Oklahoma with Hitch Enterprises. Following his retirement with Hitch, Marshall began working for Oakes & Associates, where he has worked for the past three years.
Marshall and Lisa Johnson were united in marriage on December 24, 1980 in Perryton, Texas. They made their home in Guymon, where Marshall was an active member of the Kiwanis Club for more than 30 years. Marshall enjoyed spending his time doing woodworking and biking. He also had a great love for the outdoors – camping, hiking and trail-walking in the mountains.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Lorene Durbin.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 38 years, Lisa Durbin of the home; his two sons and daughters-in-law: Clint & Chelsea Durbin of Hardesty, Oklahoma and Drew & Andrea Durbin of Edmond, Oklahoma; his four cherished grandchildren: Wyett, Colson, Coy and Brooklyn; one sister, Alice and husband, Tom Perrault of Ormond Beach, Florida; and one brother, Gary Durbin and wife, Abie of Phoenix, Arizona; along with other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Guymon First Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Carter officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
