Marie Lollar Hicks, 89, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Marie was born December 9, 1929 to Mayme Ruth Highley and John Benton Lollar in Hooker, Oklahoma, one of thirteen children. She worked as a telephone operator for several years until she married the love of her life, Merl Hicks on August 5, 1955 in Clayton, New Mexico.

She was a homemaker, enjoyed reading, and delighted in reciting poetry to her grandchildren, especially an Olde English poem by Chaucer she memorized in third grade. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life;  she constantly doted on them and told everyone of their accomplishments and how smart they were. She had a wicked sense of humor and a sparkling personality. She was known as "Little Feist" and "Sweet Marie" by her grandparents. She was the glue that held her family together and she would do anything for them.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Merl Hicks; a son, RT Hicks (Amy), of Amarillo, Texas, and a daughter, Connie Hicks, of Guymon; four grandchildren, Brice Hicks, Benton Hicks, Shanna (Karel) Walle, and Natasha (Wes) Fitzgerald; one brother, Byron (Beth) Lollar; one sister, Esther (Corky) Parker; five great-grandchildren, Chynna Hicks; AJ, Kennley, and Lennox Walle; and Lincoln Fitzgerald, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Mark Alan Hicks; parents, Mayme and Benton Lollar; brothers, Wayne, Earl, Jack, Delbert, Clayton, and Johnny; and sisters, Irma Dixon, June Woods, Joye Hicks, and Alice Hayden.

Services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Morning Star United Methodist Church, Hough, Oklahoma at 2 p.m., with Dale Skidmore and Max Whipple officiating, graveside service to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma.

The Hicks family will greet friends on Friday, April 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home.
