On October 21st, 1943, a blond-haired blue-eyed baby girl was born to Leo and Bessie Adams Tipps in Houston, Tx. Several years later her sister Geanie Faye was born, who she adored and loved to play momma to.

In the early morning hours of May 5th, 2024 Marie put her hand in the hand of her Lord and Savior and left this earth and is now whole and healed.

As a young girl, around the age of 12 Marie was involved in a serious accident that caused her to have severe brain trauma. Although this caused many struggles in her life, God works in mysterious ways because this same brain trauma was what caused Marie to be the childlike, sweet, accepting, loving, nonjudgmental, Faithful lady that we all knew. She was unable to show emotions very well, but she did have several things that she obviously loved and took considerable pride in. First and foremost was her Love of God, her husband, family, and friends. She also loved animals, especially cats. She crocheted many items and gave them to many of her family and friends.

In December of 1963 Marie married Fredrick Harris Coats, they could be found together in a field where Freddie drove tractor and Marie sat in her bonnet in the pickup either reading her books or crocheting. They also spent many evenings with Freddie's Uncle Loyd and Aunt Lois Coats where she became very attached to their son Wesley who she always thought of as another of her "nephews."

Later on in life she formed a very special bond with Casey and Heather Coats' children Kyle, Quannah, Raelynn and Kimber who are the grandchildren of Wesley.  She was very proud of her five nephews and one niece and talked lovingly about them all.

Marie is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Ruby and Earnie Saunders, her brother-in-law Johnny Ballard, her nephews David and Jonathon Saunders, Brian and Kyle Ballard, her niece Kim Seymour, Wesley Coats, and their respective families. Also surviving Marie are numerous Coats and Mock cousins.

Preceding Marie in death were her Parents Leo Tipps and Bessie Hartman, her parent-in-laws Theodore and Elsie Coats, her husband Freddie Coats, her sister Geanie Ballard, many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as her nephew Kevin Ballard.

Memorial services will be Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Wheeless Baptist Church, west of Boise City, Oklahoma.
