Margaret Myrth DeFord (Knitig) of Texhoma, OK. passed away suddenly at her home on Monday, June 21st, 2021.

The only girl of four children, she was welcomed into this world on April 19th, 1952 in Goodland, KS, by Kenneth William Knitig and Marylee Onie Knitig. Being reared the third youngest child next to three brothers, Bill, Tom, and Rhoncen, she was hardened in life to grow up strong. Maggie decided she wanted to extend her family going through this life, bringing her first child into this world, Marilee Dianne Knitig, on October 29th, 1974 in Goodland, KS. Her youngest child, Kenny DeFord, followed twelve years later on August 15th, 1986 in Guymon, OK. Maggie worked hard raising her children settling down in Texhoma, OK, sometimes working two or three jobs to make sure they had everything they needed. Being raised in a military and law enforcement family, Maggie found her passion as a Correctional Officer for TDCJ in Dalhart, TX. Maggie's greatest love of her life, her grandson Nathan Knitig, was born on November 11th, 1996. She decided working her tail off wasn't everything, and poured her time and love into helping raise Nathan. If she didn't think that took up enough of her time, a second grandchild, Kaden DeFord born on January 20th, 2011, would surely do it. Maggie enjoyed many hobbies while raising her kids including fishing and camping. She enjoyed quilting and making blankets for many people to have.

Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Marylee Knitig, her step-mother Estella Knitig, brother Rhoncen Knitig, and infant brother Charles Knitig.

Survivors include her brother William (Bill) Knitig (Annette) of Goodland, KS., brother Tom Knitig, of Ulysses, KS., step-sisters Karen (Jaime) Lescarboura of South Dakota, Judith (Marvin) Bishop of South Dakota, daughter Marilee Knitig of Guymon, OK., son Kenny DeFord (Kristi) of Guymon, OK., grandson Kaden DeFord of Guymon, OK., grandson Nathan Knitig and fiance Mikayla Edwards of Australia, soon to be born great granddaughter of Australia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family viewing will be held at Bunch Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon on June 23rd, with memorial service held at a later date
