Obituary

Manuel Mesta, 70, of Optima, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday morning, September 17, 2019 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.

The son of Juan Pablo Mesta and Natalia Villa, he was born September 20, 1948 in Jose Isabel Robles, Durango, Mexico. Manuel moved to the U.S. when he was 15 years old, where he worked in the oil pipeline industry.

Manuel was united in marriage to Guadalupe Amador on March 15, 1967 in Durango. They moved to the Oklahoma Panhandle in April 1996. Manuel retired in 2012 and enjoyed roosters and horses, along with horse racing and playing cards. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Mesta Amador and granddaughter, Isabel Esquivel.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Guadalupe Amador de Mesta of the home; two daughters: Maria Mesta and Aracely Mesta; and three sons: Oliverio, Joaquin and Edys Mesta, all of Optima; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters and their families.

Rosary will be recited Thursday evening, September 19th at 8:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Guymon. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday afternoon, September 20th at 3:00 p.m. also at St. Peter's with Father Raul Sanchez, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
