Mac Crawford, 81, passed away December 1, 2024 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born May 9, 1943 in Hooker, OK to Beecher Crawford and Colleen Crawford-Hamilton. Mac grew up in Hardesty, OK graduating with the class of 1961. His love for the racetrack and race horses started at a young age and he spent many days at the racetrack at Raton, NM. His years at any track were his happiest.  We all find it kind of funny that he loved the horse track and its speed so much, seeing as Mac was never in a hurry!

In 1962, Mac attended Panhandle State University and transferred to Oklahoma State University, where he achieved his B.A. degree in 1965.  Following college Mac lived in Oklahoma City, New York, Denver, Kansas City, and Chicago where he went on to be on the Board of Trade. While in Oklahoma City, Mac coached the same little league baseball players for six years. He later moved to Thomas and eventually settled down in the Texhoma and Hardesty areas.

He did not care much for all the concrete in the cities, and it did not take long for him to return to his roots and his favorite thing… horses. Mac spent many years at a racetrack, which is where he was the happiest. This started as a young man working alongside his dad and continued into his later years at Remington Park. Mac loved horses and dogs, and always had several in his care. In the end, Mac outlasted all of his animals so nobody needs to worry about adopting them. Mac loved working on things that involved hauling water, feeding horses, breaking ice, and long drives around the land. Mac was rarely in a hurry even though most of his passengers were. Some might say that testing people's patience was one of Mac's favorite hobbies.

Mac married Jackie Crawford on June 29, 1962 and they had two sons, Troy and Keith.  Keith was married to Kelly Crawford and they had two children, Kersten and Konrad. Mac has three great grandchildren, Laken, Lily, and Leighton.

Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Beecher Crawford, Colleen Crawford-Hamilton, and Rentie Hamilton; his grandparents; his younger brothers, Ernie Crawford and Bobby Joe Crawford; his youngest son Keith Crawford and his wife Kelly.

Survivors include: son Troy and Carla of Texhoma; grandchildren Kersten Crawford of Chandler, Konrad Crawford and wife Faith of Oklahoma City; great grandchildren Laken, Lily and Leighton; ex-wife Jackie of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law Geraldine Evans Crawford of Maryland; nephew Jason Crawford, wife Meghan and son Caden of Maryland; the Cartwright family - Cody, Missy, Crosby and Milly of Texhoma; the Keenan Family – Stephen, Kaycee, Derek, Kynlee, Caden and Kaytlee of Texhoma; the Pugh Family – JD, Kodi, Karter and Jace of Bethel Acres, OK, the Morales Family - Carlos, Megan and Maisy of Edmond, OK, the Overton Family – Cash, Jowie, Gauge, Daxton and Reese of Texhoma; Travis Imboden family of Thomas, OK and many great friends in the Panhandle and beyond who were touched by Mac in his many years of travels, horseracing, and work.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, December 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Texhoma Methodist Church with Rev. Alan Meyer officiating.  Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Hartville Cemetery, southeast of Hardesty.  Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
