Obituary

Lulie Ellen Thompson, 78, of Guymon passed away Friday morning, April 28, 2017 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

The daughter of Alvin and Elsie Beatrice (Martin) Horrocks, she was born August 20, 1938 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Lulie attended school in Elk City before moving to Perryton, Texas.

Lulie and Bill Lawrence Thompson were united in marriage on July 7, 1962 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They made their home in Guymon, where Lulie worked as a secretary for Texas County District #2 for 27 years and Bill worked for Behne Construction. Bill preceded her in death on December 21, 1982.

She was a member of the Guymon Church of Christ and loved spending time with her granddaughter and most recently her great granddaughter. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading, working Sudoku puzzles, playing Yahtzee, doing word searches and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Horrocks; her mother, Elsie Loveland; her husband, Bill; her son, Kelly Thompson on September 26, 2007; three brothers: Cecil Courtney, Bill Courtney and Barney Horrocks; and one sister, Clara Roth.

Survivors include her daughter, Rena and husband, Robert "Bubba" Martindale of Guymon; granddaughter, Pamela and husband, Wesley Hollis of Amarillo, Texas; great granddaughter, Paislee Grace Hollis; daughter-in-law, Laurie Thompson; along with numerous other extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, May 2nd at 3:00 p.m. at the Guymon Church of Christ with Lyndol Hale officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The family will greet friends on Monday evening, May 1st from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home. Memorials in Lulie's name may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital, Shriners Hospital for Children or to the American Diabetes Association. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
