Obituary

Lisa Ann Cantey, 65, of Texhoma passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

The daughter of Betty Louise Ellis and Floyd "Butch" Ellis she was born June 5, 1959 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.  Lisa was raised in the Oklahoma City area until moving to Texhoma in 1975.

Lisa continued her education at Panhandle State University, receiving her teaching degree in 1989.  She was a devoted middle school teacher at Texhoma Public Schools and also in Oklahoma City at Capitol Hill Elementary.

Lisa and Fred L. Cantey were married on April 30, 2004 in Oklahoma City.  They moved to Texhoma in 2012, where Lisa returned to the Texhoma school system.  She loved playing softball and was very athletic.  She was also known for her ability to "break even" on the slots.  However, nothing brought Lisa more joy than spending her time watching her kids and grandkids in whatever they were involved in – she truly cherished being a Mom and Nana.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Ellis; grandparents, Jay and Cora Courtney; sister, Carrie Noland; several aunts and her in-laws, Betty Jo Thomas and Fred Cantey.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Cantey of the home; her children:  Shane Elliott of Texhoma, A.P. Elliott of Texhoma, Austin and Crystal Elliott of Hooker and Amy Elliott of Oklahoma City; step-daughter, Caitlyn and Tanner Winfrey of Tuttle; niece who she claimed as her own, Paige and Paul Mayer of Guymon; her father, Floyd "Butch" Ellis of Oklahoma City; her beloved grandchildren:  Payton, Jace, Jaden, Carson, Tabra, Kennedy, Kourtney, Justice, Sley, Brody, Marley, Shadi, Paislee and Seth; and great grandchildren: Shepard, Crosby, Elizabeth, Avery, Gus, Juan and Paislee.  Lisa also leaves behind her brother, Steve and Pattie Noland of Hinton; her Uncle Mike and wife Donna Noland of Ardmore, OK; her loving companion Toby and special friends, including Shelly Ross and Gina Faught.

A celebration of Lisa's life will be held Monday afternoon, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. at the Texhoma First Baptist Church with her good friend, Pastor Joey Landara officiating.
