Lee Seth Cruz, of Guymon, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 8 at the age of 56.
A memorial mass honoring his life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Guymon with Father John Paul Lewis officiating. A rosary vigil will take place on Thursday at 7 p.m. also at St. Peter's.
Lee was born in Clayton, N.M., on May 22, 1962, to Lawrence and Rose Cruz. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and an infant daughter, Skyler.
He is survived by his mother, Rose, of Guymon, his daughter Sara Elisabeth Lockhart and five siblings: Joey Cruz and wife Dawn of Elgin, Okla.; Randy Cruz of Guymon; Lori Cruz of Amarillo, Texas; Ed Cruz of Guymon and Michael Cruz of Guymon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Lee was a graduate of the Guymon High School Class of 1980 before he moved to Oklahoma City to work in the oil field. Lee eventually owned and operated several small businesses but his passion was working with wood. He was a highly respected and elite trim carpenter. He always said he was proud to be a carpenter because it's what Jesus did.
He enjoyed golfing, OU games and hanging out with his friends. He loved all his nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews (and casinos!)
Lee was well liked in the community and would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He will be greatly missed.
