Obituary

Lauretta Mae (Gilliland) Garrison was born December 22, 1931 in Guymon, OK to parents Con and Vella Mae Gilliland. She attended Guymon schools. She was united in marriage to W.L. (Billy) Garrison February 21, 1948 at the Gilliland home, and they shared 67 wonderful years together. To this union 8 children were born.

Lauretta is a lifelong member of Victory Memorial Methodist Church. She was active in the Women's Circle, Sunday School, Bible studies, helping with Vacation Bible school when her children were young, in the jail ministry and with the Gideon Ministry. She and Bill led many Lay Witness Missions in Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. Lauretta was chosen as the 2015 Pioneer Day Queen.  Her family referred to her as our "Queen" from that day forward. Lauretta was actively involved in the start-up of Bill's insurance business and continued working at Garrison Agency until 2020.

She is survived by her children, John & Melesa, Billy & Leta Kay, Hervey & Darla, Gary & Sonya, Connie & Mike Taylor, Kathy Christopher, Linda Smith, David & Breanne; 35 grandchildren: Craig, Garrett and Krysta Garrison, Lisa Walker, Audra Clark and Alexa Fritzsching; Travis, Cody & Justin Garrison; April Ojeda, Adam, Scott & Tammy Garrison; Jennifer Schneeberger, Lisa Conner, Jaime Lyman & Jared Garrison; Amy & Aaron Dachille, Rebecca Johnson, Sterling and Braxton Taylor; Christopher & Matthew Beaudoin, Norman & Nicole Christopher; Amber Flowers, Micha White, Joshua Smith, Rachel Smith-Streck; Ryan, Sadie & Jacob Garrison, Alyssa Montanez, Jessica Hofferber and 62 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren with 1 great grandchild on the way, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Con & Vella Mae Gilliliand, brothers and their wives Johnny, Billy (Pat), Hervey (Reva Jean), father & mother-in-law Lain & Lola Garrison, daughter-in-law Dianna Garrison, sons-in-law Dennis Dachille, David Christopher, & Mike Smith, granddaughter Lauren Taylor, daughter from Brazil, Fatima Garnica and brother & sister-in-law Kenneth and Betty Stelzer.

Her family would like to especially thank her caregivers Ramona Vazquez, Carolina Ortiz, Tammy Ganci and Sarah Ross who lovingly cared for her.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am at Elmhurst Cemetery and Memorial services will follow at Victory Memorial Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 2 pm with Pastor Dave Player presiding. The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to Victory Memorial Methodist Church.  Memorials will be accepted at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
