Kenneth Ray
Bratton
Dec 24, 1947 — Sep 29, 2022
Gruver
Kenneth Ray "Kenny" Bratton, 74, of Gruver passed into the loving arms of Jesus on
Thursday, September 29, 2022. The son of W. A. "Poss" and Clara Rose (Thompson)
Bratton, he was born December 24, 1947 in Guymon, Oklahoma. Kenny was raised in
Gruver, Texas, graduating from Gruver High School with the Class of 1966, and was a
member of the Gruver First Christian Church.
Kenny and Patricia Jo Winders were united in marriage on July 7, 1967 in Clayton, New
Mexico. Kenny worked as an oil field mechanic for Phillips Petroleum Co., and later
Duke Energy, for more than 20 years. Before retirement, he began operating the family
seed cleaning business and did so until 2016.
Kenny was quick-witted and had a dry sense of humor, often with a touch of good natured sarcasm. He was generous, strong in his faith, and cared deeply for his family and friends. He instilled in his children the importance of hard work, loyalty, honesty, perseverance, and education, gifts that continue to bless them both. He will be sorely missed but the family and his many close friends take solace in knowing that he is now
reunited with his devoted wife of 47 years.
Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Bratton on June 5, 2014; his parents,
W. A. "Poss" and Rose Bratton; and two sisters, Georgie Parker and Shirley Castor.
Survivors include his two children: Dr. Shawn Bratton and wife, Jennifer of Tomball, TX
and Katrina Hughes of Spearman, TX; his four grandchildren: Zackary Hughes and
wife, Madison of Pampa, TX, Zane Hughes of Amarillo, TX, Christopher Bratton of
Tomball, TX, and Samuel Bratton of San Antonio, TX; two great grandchildren, Raylyn
and Cannon Hughes of Pampa; one sister, Bonnie Gross and husband, Curt of
Saginaw, TX; one brother, Virgil Bratton of Lubbock, TX; and a host of nieces and
nephews.
