Keith Eldon Lauer was born Sunday, August 21, 1927 at high noon in Buffalo, Oklahoma. He was the oldest child of Clayton and Bessie Lauer and 11 years later was joined by a sister, Carole Sue. He left this life on Friday, May 26, 2017.

The family homesteaded west of Buffalo. Keith attended Buffalo Schools through his junior year in 1945. Following that school year, he and his best friend, Lynn Franks, left to serve our country. Keith enlisted in the United States Navy and was deployed to the Pacific. He later returned to graduate with the BHS class of 1947.

After graduating, Keith continued to work at his parent's sale barn, Buffalo Livestock Commission, where he began his career as an auctioneer. He attended auctioneering school in Mason City, Iowa. In the 1960s, he, along with his father, Clayton, and Cecil Job formed Lauer, Lauer & Job Auctioneering. Together, they served as auctioneers at many farm and estate sales throughout Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas. He even auctioneered for the doctors and nurses upon request during the past few months!

On June 28, 1952, Keith married Pat Harper. They were blessed with four children: C.A., Rob, Darla, and Tammy.

In addition to his career as an auctioneer, Keith continued ranching and order buying for packers and feed yards. He was also actively involved in the Buffalo community where he played a big role in organizing the Buffalo Roping Club and serving on the Buffalo School Board for ten years.

On June 13, 1980, Keith married Luci Sandoval. To this union they were blessed with two daughters, Kelli and Kyra. Keith and Luci eventually made their home in Texhoma, Oklahoma where Keith managed the Texhoma Livestock Auction from 1979 through 1983. Afterwards, he was the lead auctioneer for Bobby Edmond Horse Sales, where his daughter, Kelli, worked alongside him as a clerk his entire tenure of 25 years. He also served as an auctioneer at Shores Auction for 10 years, became a licensed realtor, was active in horse racing, and auctioned both the T.H.S. Hired Hand FFA Sale and the O.P.S.U. Rodeo Team Calcutta; all the while, continuing to trade cattle and horses, which lasted the remainder of his life.

Throughout his life, Keith loved spending time with this family. In past years, Keith enjoyed roping with his sons, playing cards and dominos with friends, telling stories and jokes with both awesome delivery and the best punchlines. He never met a stranger; he loved people and people loved him.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, and a grandson, Blake Lauer.

Keith is survived by his wife, Luci Lauer of Texhoma; 2 sons and 4 daughters: C.A. Lauer and wife Paula, Rob Lauer and wife Tammie Jo, Darla Young and husband Stan all of Buffalo, Tammy Jordan and husband James of Ness City, Kansas, Kelli Lauer of Texhoma, Kyra Hirsch and husband Miles of Harold, South Dakota; as well as, 14 grandchildren: Ike Lauer, Sonny Lauer, Linaka Probst, Jesse Young, K.W. Lauer, Nick Lauer, Savannah Irion, Brittany Atchison, Kelsie Lauer, Lexi Lauer, Monica Jordan, Hawkins, Houston and Haiz Hirsch, 9 great grandchildren, and extended family.

"Celebration of Life" services will be held Thursday afternoon, June 15, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at First Christian Church in Texhoma, Oklahoma and Friday afternoon, June 16, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at First Christian Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Blake Lauer Scholarship Fund, Buffalo Alumni Scholarship, Buffalo Veteran's Memorial or to the Texhoma Cemetery Fund. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
