Funeral services for Joe R. Lee will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 12th, at the Bunch - Roberts Chapel in Guymon. Rev. Odie Nunley will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
Mr. Lee went to be with our heavenly Father on September 9, 2017, at the Heritage Community Manor in Guymon.
He was born May 6, 1928, in Coldspring, Texas to John Raby and Ettie Rebecca (Farris) Lee. He grew up on a farm and attended Flat School. He joined the United States Marines in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1948 with the rank of Corporal.
Joe and Beulah Elizabeth Yoakam were married March 7, 1950 at Clayton, New Mexico. To this union three children were born: Tommy Joe on May 17, 1951 in Guymon; Rebecca Irene on July 27, 1955 in Guymon; and Gregory Andrew on November 24, 1957 in Elkhart Kansas.
Mr. Lee was a lineman with Southwestern Public Service. The Lees lived in Elkhart and moved to Guymon in 1962. Joe gave his soul to the Lord and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart. He was a 50-year Mason and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Lee loved to fish. After retiring from Southwestern Public Service he farmed south of Guymon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tommy Joe; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Wing and brother, Ray.
He is survived by son, Greg Lee of Guymon; son-in-law, Jerry Wing and wife, Jeani of Guymon; grandchildren: Dustin Wing and wife, Lynette and their children Jack, Estella, and Alden of Amarillo, Texas; John David Wing and wife, Kim of Guymon and their children Camryn and Cole of North Carolina and Emma of the home; Andrlynn and husband, Zach Beam of Jenks, Oklahoma and children Liam, Norah and Anniston; Jilliann and husband, Nathan Gonzalez of Dallas, Texas; brothers: Rex Lee of Waco, Texas and Jimmy Lee of Gatesville, Texas and his good friend, Beulah Lee of Guymon.
