Joe D. Haynes, 79, of Guymon passed away early Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home.

The son of Russell and Gladys P. (Mayfield) Haynes, he was born March 10, 1941 in Lubbock, Texas. The Haynes family moved to Guymon in 1951 and established Tri-State Supermarket. Joe attended the Guymon school system, graduating with the GHS Class of 1959. He then attended West Texas State in Canyon on a football scholarship.

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964, where he was stationed in Augusta, Georgia. Joe and Angela Kay Greer were united in marriage on August 16, 1962 in Clayton, New Mexico.

He owned and operated Haynes Meat Market in Lubbock, Texas, retiring in 2007. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church, as well as being a Mason and Shriner. He and Angela returned to Guymon in 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Haynes.

Survivors include his wife, Angela of the home; one son, Randy Haynes and fianceé, Felicia Gallegos of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and one granddaughter, Keila Haynes of Twentynine Palms, California.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, March 30th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Chapel with Rev. Van Heckle, pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
