Joan Mary McDaneld, 74, of Goodwell passed away Friday morning, September 23, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of Fontell Clifford and Florence (Gottlob) Hatcher, Joan was born December 8, 1947 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was raised on the family farm 12 ½ miles south of Coolidge, Kansas and graduated from Coolidge High School with the Class of 1965.
Joan and Ernest P. McDaneld were united in marriage on August 16, 1966 in Syracuse, Kansas. They made their home in Goodwell, Oklahoma where Joan was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing and doing embroidery, spending time working on puzzles, baking (which included her famous sugar cookies), and gardening and yardwork. She also loved family gatherings, especially the family reunions held in South Dakota and attending her grandkids sporting events. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ernest McDaneld of the home; one son, Ron McDaneld and Danece of Guymon; one daughter, Tracy and Leroy Montano, Jr. of Blanchard, Oklahoma; four grandchildren: Brittany Montano, Brandon & Payton Montano, Kortney McDaneld and Mason McDaneld; three great grandchildren: Blakeleigh McGuire and Braxlynn and Baylor Montano; three brothers: Jim Hatcher and Don Hatcher of Kansas City and Terry Hatcher of Syracuse, Kansas; two sisters: Laurie Walkinshaw of Spearfish, South Dakota and Carol Thompson of Dodge City, Kansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
Rosary will be recited Sunday evening, October 2nd at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Guymon. Funeral Mass will be held Monday morning, October 3rd at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Father Christopher Brashears, celebrant. Burial will follow at the Goodwell Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be given to St. Peter's Catholic church and will be accepted at the church office or the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942. Friends can sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com
