Obituary

Joan Holland, 83, of Guymon went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday evening, December 4, 2023 in Liberal, Kansas following a brief battle with cancer.

The daughter of J.J. and Ruby (Sudermann) Schlichting, she was born July 29, 1940 in Hillsboro, Kansas.  Joan graduated from Midland, TX High School with the class of 1958.  She then attended Business College in Odessa.

Joan and James Eddie Adams were united in marriage on July 10, 1959 and they had four children.  Jim passed away on January 15, 1991.

Joan and Mike Holland were united in marriage on February 4, 1994 in Amarillo, Texas.  They made Guymon their home, where they operated the family business, Master Cleaners.  Joan was also very active in the Ladies Jail Ministry and enjoyed participating in ceramic and painting clubs.  She attended New Life Christian Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Jim Adams and three brothers: Henry, Phillip and Jay Schlichting.

Survivors include her loving partner and husband of nearly 30 years, Mike Holland of the home; four children: Russell E. Adams and  wife, Lara of Albuquerque, New Mexico, James J. Adams of San Antonio, Texas, Benjamin J. Adams of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Amy Jo Ferrell and husband, Dustin of Lakeway, Texas; three step-daughters: Holly Cockcroft and husband, Brian of Hooker, Kathy Holmes and husband, Eddie of Guymon and Stephanie Babb and husband, Michael of Ada, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, December 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Guymon Church of the Nazarene with Pastors John and Cathy Henry of the New Life Christian Center officiating.  Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery under the care of Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home.
