Obituary

Doris Jean Patterson, 93, passed away Monday evening, November 3, 2025 at the Hansford Manor in Spearman, Texas.

The daughter of Walter Alvin and Neva Gladys (VanHorn) Klitzke, she was born July 18, 1932 at the family home in Ness County, Kansas.  Jean graduated from Ransom, Kansas high school with the Class of 1949.

Jean was united in marriage to Robert Ray Patterson on August 8, 1950 in Dodge City, Kansas.  The family moved to Guymon in 1957 from Dodge City.  Jean worked for GTE as an operator, retiring in 1989.  They moved to Fritch, Texas in 1990.  Bob preceded her in death on January 11, 1996.

Jean was a member of the Catholic Church.  She was active in TOPS and was an avid bowler.  She also enjoyed quilting and taught a quilting class.  She loved being around family, friends and neighbors – she never met a stranger.  She was always active and on the go, always ready for any social engagement.  She loved gardening and her flowers – she was known for her ability to make anything grow.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Ray Patterson, two brothers: Chet and Russell Klitzke, and two great grandchildren: Trevor Robert Keith and Jessica Jean Batie.

Jean is survived by three children:  Patti Raines and husband, Curtis of Guymon, OK, Mike Patterson of Fritch, TX, and Janet Gourley and husband, Russell of McGregor, TX; daughter-in-law, Brenda Patterson of Centralia, WA; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Max Klitzke and wife, Mary of Bel Aire, KS; sister-in-law, Edna Ricker of Hutchinson, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family will greet friends at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Friday evening, November 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  A funeral mass will be held Saturday morning, November 8th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Joseph Schwarz officiating.  Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.

The family suggest memorials be given to Hansford Manor or Hansford Hospice.  Memorials will be accepted at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.  Friends can sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
