Obituary

Emma Jean (Shields) Frittz, 93, lifelong Guymon resident went home to be with Jesus on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.

The daughter of Claude Allen and Edith Lillian (Johnson) Shields, Emma Jean was born March 3, 1930 at the family homeplace north of Guymon.  She attended the Guymon school system, graduating with the Class of 1948.

Jean and Otto Frittz, Jr. were united in marriage on June 6, 1948 in Guymon.  They raised their three children in Guymon and operated the House of Color with family and later opened the Wallpaper Shop.  Jean was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, having served in all offices including as Worthy Matron.  She was also involved in the Red Hat Society, enjoyed playing cards and board games with friends and family and was a member of the Panhandle Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of over 71 years, Otto Frittz on December 17, 2019; her son, Robert Michael "Mike" Frittz on March 17, 2017; seven sisters: Lois Lillian and Hazel Claudine who died in infancy, Maxine McBratney, Marie Dixon, Dorothy Fleming, Louise Etter and Rose Emanuel; and three brothers: Richard, Robert and Bernard Shields.

Survivors include her two daughters:  Debbie Straabe and husband, Barry of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Claudette Reynolds and husband, Gary of Guymon; six grandchildren:  Michelle Williamson and husband, Steve, Christy Rogers and husband, Kirk, Cari Felts and husband, Keith, Kelli Piercy and husband, Dustin, Travis Longacre and wife, Janet and Brandon Reynolds; 14 great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons, with another on the way.  Jean is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her lifelong best friend, Patsy Reed.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, November 14th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Chapel with Rev. Carol LaMar, pastor of the Panhandle Presbyterian Church officiating.  Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery under the care of Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home.
