J.H. Kammerzell, 77, of Guymon, Oklahoma passed from this life on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at home surrounded by family.

He was born Feb. 11, 1940 in Sand Springs, OK, the son of Fred Lee and Venice Marie (Bartlow) Kammerzell. He was known as "Jay" by his family and friends and fondly called "Papa Jay" by his grand and great-grandchildren.

Jay grew up and attended school at Adams, OK. On May 28, 1959, Jay married the love of his life, Peggy Jean Lawson. They lived in the Oklahoma Panhandle almost their entire marriage. Jay primarily worked in the agricultural industry (farming) after a brief stint in the oilfield during the early years of their marriage. Peggy preceded him in death on April 3, 2006. Jay will be remembered for his devotion to and love for his family. He was also an avid sports enthusiast and one of OU's biggest fans. Those who knew him best could describe him as being a bit of a prankster.

Survivors include his three daughters, Debby Guthrie and husband, David, of Oklahoma City, Gaylynn Bohanan and husband, Tom, of Guymon, and Tina Snow and husband,Jeff, of Mooreland; two sisters, Louise Judd and husband, Roy, of Hooker and Wanda Germann of Liberal, KS; one special sister-in-law, Donna Tillery and husband, Jimmy, of Elmore City; grandchildren, Lacey Schoonover and husband, Daniel, of Oklahoma City (and their children, Isaac, Aubrey and Addy), SPC Randy Snow of Fort Bliss, TX; Nicole Burgess and husband, Casey, of Hooker (and their children, Wyatt and Averie); Tiffany and Nikita Bohanan of Guymon; and Trystan Guthrie and wife, Rebecca, of Oklahoma City; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his wife, Peggy, Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Venice Kammerzell; one infant daughter, Sheila Jean Kammerzell; two grandchildren, Shane Ray Snow and Tristy Jean Terry; one brother, Royal Kammerzell; four sisters, Bertha Henson, Elnora Scantling, Bonnie Gorden and Charlene Clancy.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 2:00 pm, at Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Guymon with Rev. Lori Kraft (niece) officiating. Interment will be held at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon directed by the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
