Janet Marcum Reid, 80, longtime area resident passed away Thursday, January 8, 2026 at her home in Guymon.

The daughter of William Charles Marcum and Grace Evilee (Chapman) Arnold, Janet Evelyn Marcum was born October 23, 1945 in Jena, Louisiana.  Her father died in an automobile accident in 1950.  She had moved to Hooker, Oklahoma in 1953 with her mother and step-father, Orban Ray Arnold.  Janet attended the Hooker schools, graduating with the Class of 1964.

Janet had lived in Guymon several years and had spent most of her earlier years working as a waitress at different locations.  She was known for her sense of humor and she loved spending time on the computer, keeping up with friends.  She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father; her beloved daughter, Kari Dee Bailey on July 10, 1981; two brothers, Charles Marcum, Jr. and James Arnold; and three sisters: Linda Arnold, Sharon Kramer and Donna Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Gaylan Bailey of Guymon; extended family and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, January 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Van Heckle officiating.  Burial will follow at the Hooker Cemetery under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
