Obituary

Lora "Janie" Jane Thornton, age 78, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on the morning of November 29, 2017, following diminished health and a short stay in the hospital.

Jane was born June 7, 1939 as the youngest child of five. She was a home health care provider with a passion of going above and beyond for her clients. She was a spunky, sassy woman with a remarkable love of life. Janie was a generous woman, known often of giving away her last dollar to bless others. No one ever went hungry at Gran-Gran's house. She was well known to family, friends, and neighbors for whipping up a grand old-fashioned cook-out, a prime rib roast dinner, or a big pot of chili on short notice.

Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Clifford Thornton; her parents, sisters: Betty Faye and Nellie, and brothers: Bohnm and Albert Bruce.

She leaves behind three beloved daughters and their spouses, Valerie Rainbolt and Mike Stafford of Tulsa, Bobbi and Kim Young of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Vicki and Brad Martin of Marietta, Oklahoma. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Matthew and Cody Wilson, Montana and Madison Rainbolt; Vanessa and Brad Berry, Jennifer Hamrick, Toby Hamrick, Stephanie and Dominic Sellers; and Anngela Parker, and Kelly and Rebecca Martin, along with many loving great grandchildren and friends.

Thank you to her friends, loved ones and caregivers for your kindness. Gran-gran and her laugh, vivacity, and sparkle will be greatly missed but treasured, and her stories will live on.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning, December 4th at 10:00 a.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Chapel with Rev. Gordon Pace and Rev. Elsie Pace officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The family suggests that memorials in Janie's name be made to the American Heart Association. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
