Obituary

James H. Smith, 63 of Guymon, went to his Heavenly Home on Monday, December 9th, 2024. With his Wife, Daughter, Son, and Son-in-law by his side. Ending his 26 year Medical Battle.

Jim was born June 11th, 1961 in Guymon, OK. He grew up 3 miles north of Guymon at his family home and attended Guymon Public Schools.

Growing up Jim and his brothers helped their Dad haul and stack hay bales for area farmers for about 4 years. He also enjoyed working with his Uncle John Shepherd repairing tractors which later led to a job at Texas County Shop Dist #2 for the both of them. Other jobs over the years included J&G Portable Buildings, Texas County Feed Yard, and Adams Hardfacing. In 2002 Jim was approved for Disability due to medical issues that started in 1998.

Jim enjoyed many hobbies. Some of his favorites were watching Nascar Races, fishing, puzzles, and tinkering in his building or working on projects. He also bowled on a League for many years. In September 2023, a dream came true for Jim when he got to attend his first Nascar Race at Texas Motor Speedway marking a big item off his bucket list.

Jim is survived by his Wife, of 43 years, Melody (Hawkins) Smith of the home. Daughter: Jamie (Steven) White of Liberal, Kansas; Son: Jason (Melissa) Smith of Guymon, Oklahoma. Many Grandchildren: Aubrie (Francisco) Ybarra, Tobyn, and Kimber Smith all of Guymon. Jaden and Mason Michael, Nick, Charles, Gabe and Lexa White all of Liberal. And two Great Grandsons: Xavier and Issac Ybarra of Guymon. Sisters: Donna Tarver of Guy, Arkansas; Julia (Darrell) Brown of Woodward, Oklahoma; Galla (Clifford) Cowart of Porum, Oklahoma and Carla Menie of Keefton, Oklahoma. Brothers: Johnny (Cindy) Smith of Victoria, Texas; Bill (Katrina) Smith of Washington, Oklahoma; George Hintergardt of Searcy, Arkansas; Floyd (Della) Hintergardt of Guy, Arkansas; Riley (Beatrice) Smith of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Curtis Smith of Keefton, Oklahoma. Brother-in-law: James Brassull of Gore, Oklahoma.

Also Survived by: Long time special friends; Josh Michael, Justin Johnson, Grant Wadley, Tab Beck, Shawn Yorks, Shirlee Blassingame, and Shawn Jacobs.

Jim is Preceded in Death by his Parents: A.G. (Red) and Yvonne Hintergardt, and Eugene Smith; Brother: Kenny Smith And Sister: Diane Brassull.

A special thanks to: all the Doctors that have taken care of Jim over the years including; Dr. Manny Barias, Dr. Bassem Rauphael, Dr. P.K. Desai, and Dr. Tarek H. Nagiub. Medical Staff of NW Texas Hospital, BSA Hospital, KPC Promise Hospital, and Wheatridge Park Care Center Staff and Crew; Domino Buddies: Cliff and Roberta.

Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon, December 14th at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Lane Baptist Church, 1515 N. Sunset Lane in Guymon, Oklahoma. Dress Casual (blue jeans are fine) Cremation will follow services. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
