Obituary

Jack Leonard Test, aged 85, passed away on June 22, 2024. He was a beloved father, husband, grandpa, great grandpa, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jack was born on March 16, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri to Delbert and Reva (Branstetter) Test.  He spent his formative years in Missouri, and at age 17 family connections led him to Guymon, Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life, Tommye Lou Fergeson.  Jack and Tommye Lou were married in 1958, and were married for 65 years.  He went on to learn the family trade of upholstery and later established his own upholstery shop, Jack's Upholstery, which was in business for 54 years serving the Guymon community and surrounding area. "The Shop," as family and friends referred to Jack's Upholstery, was a special place.  If you ever attended one of Jack's fish fries, you had the pleasure of great food and fellowship with many friends and family.  It was an opportunity to share stories and reminisce about the numerous pictures on the walls.  Jack loved his pictures, especially fishing pictures, and would often tell you about the people and the stories behind each picture.  Throughout his life, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and willingness to teach and take anyone that wanted to go fishing.  Jack was one of a kind.  He was fun and high energy, especially when it came to fishing, hunting, golf, family, and friends, and he loved telling a funny story.

Jack loved sports, but he especially loved baseball and passed on the love of the game to his family.  You'd often find him wearing a Cardinals hat, and he might tell you how he was born in St. Louis, Missouri.  If you visited him, he'd typically be watching a game of one of his favorite teams, and if they scored or made a big play, you'd hear a huge "yahoo!" from even the next room. Jack also loved attending his sons, grandkids, and great grandkids sporting events.  You'd often see him at games cheering on his family or, when it came to golf, playing alongside them.  Jack was a tremendous athlete and played sports his entire life, up until two weeks prior to his passing, when he played his last game of golf.

Jack was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Test, parents, brothers: Billy, Bob, Richard, Junior; and sisters: Margie, Shirley, and Joyce.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Tommye Lou, his sons: Jack "Bryon" Test and wife, Kelli, and Ben Test and wife, Dorrie; grandchildren: Elizabeth McMurphy and husband, Martyn, Jack Bryon (J.B.) Test and wife, Juliann, and Jacob Test; and great grandchildren: Kip and Andi McMurphy, and Jack "Trigg" and Lauralee Test; brothers: George Test, Tom McCormack, Virgil McCormack and wife, Sandy; sisters: Carol Pursifull, Brenda Park, Judy Oncescu and husband, Lani, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.  His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

The Test family will greet friends at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, June 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, June 26th at 1:00 p.m. at the Guymon Church of the Nazarene.  Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery.
