J.W. "John" Bone, 78, of Guymon passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 at his home.

The son of William Thomas and Lola Birdie (Waite) Bone, J.W. was born September 24, 1944 in Lawton, Oklahoma.  He attended school in Lawton, graduating from high school in 1963.

John served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.  Following his honorable discharge on July 25, 1967 he returned to Lawton and later moved to Oklahoma City.  He worked remodeling and maintaining apartments.  He had been a resident of Guymon for the past 7 years to be near his sister and family.

John was a collector of many things - including knives, buckles and model cars.  He loved Ford trucks and was an avid sports fan, especially of the Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by two brothers: Orville Bone of Oklahoma City and Mendell Bone and wife, Ann of Henderson, Nevada; one sister, Shirley and husband, Ervin Lee of Guymon; three nieces and one nephew: Cheryl Spargo and Karen Harvey both of Henderson and Kimberly Marshall and Danny Lee both of Guymon; and eight great nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening, August 17th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home.  Graveside funeral services with military honors will be Saturday, August 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lawton, Oklahoma.
