Obituary

Helen Marguerite Secrest Claybrook passed from this earth to her Heavenly Father's home Monday, March 1, 2021, from the Heritage Center. She just recently celebrated her 96 th birthday.

Helen was born January 29, 1925, in  Picher, Oklahoma to Charlie Babe and Ruby Hariett Montgomery Secrest. She was the youngest of three children: brother Charles Secrest and sister, Lorene Klock.

Helen attended school at Whitebird and Picher High School where she sang in the choir. Helen was saved at an early age and was a member of the Baptist Church.

During World WarII she worked at Spartan Aircraft in Tulsa, Ok, where she riveted the wings of bombers. She also worked in Miami, Ok., sewing dungarees for service men and was on the first line of B.F. Goodrich where she threw tires.

Helen married Raymond Lee Kell. They had a daughter, Barbara Jean, and shortly after divorced.

Helen came to Guymon in 1947 where she worked for relatives at Cooper's Kettle, as a waitress.  She married Joe DeLoren Claybrook and they lived in Liberal Ks, Boulder, Colo., and ElDorado, Ks. . Beverly Jo was born in Liberal and Charles DeLoren was born in Boulder.

She moved to Albuquerque, N.M., and later returned to the Panhandle, that she loved. She lived in Elkhart, where she was a CNA at Morton County Hospital for many years. Retiring in the early 90's she returned to Guymon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister, sons-in-law Pete Quigley and Gary Sparkman.

Survivors include children Barbara Quigley of Guymon, Beverly Sparkman of Keyes and Charles Claybrook and wife Barbara of Sanford, Texas; grandchildren Marc  Quigley and wife Vicki, Helen Beck and husband Tek, Jeani Wing and husband Jerry, Chad Claybrook and wife Jaclan, Christopher Claybrook and wife Andrea, Keith Smallwood and wife Abi, Megan Davidson and husband Chris, Rachell Pietz and finance Jeff Delacruz, Andrea Negron and husband Josue, Adam Sparkman and wife Kalli, Justin Sparkman and wife Breanna, and Bryan McCune, and numerous great and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, March 6 at 11:00 am at Bunch-Roberts Funeral  Chapel in Guymon with Pastor Tom Freeman officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 3:00 pm in the Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Kansas.

Friends may call Friday from 2 to 8 pm for visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Senior Citizen Center in Guymon. Memorials will be accepted at Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Ok., 73942. Friends can sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
