Obituary

George David Garcia, 63, longtime Guymon resident passed away Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026 at his home NW of Guymon surrounded by his loving family.

The son of David George and Jeanie L. (Trujillo) Garcia, George David was born October 29, 1962 in Clayton, New Mexico.  The Garcia family moved to Guymon in 1968 and David attended the Guymon school system, graduating with the GHS Class of 1982.

David was united in marriage to Micaela Galan on April 13, 1982 in Dalhart, Texas.  He worked for his Uncle Ernie at E.P. Paint & Body for many years.  He has worked for OK Panhandle State University doing carpentry and utility work since 1987.

David was a very talented carpenter and enjoyed using his skills to help others.  He was loved by all and always made time for anyone in need.  He had a big heart for others, but also had an ornery streak and could play pranks with the best of them.  He was well known for his "storytelling" abilities, which fit in well with his beloved hobbies of hunting and fishing.  He cherished his time hunting in the Colorado mountains, but most of all he loved being able to take the younger generation with him so that they could also grow their love for the outdoors.  David also enjoyed playing cards and was a mean solitaire player.  In addition to his love for nature, David loved his country and would always make time to show his appreciation and respect to those who have served defending our freedom.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Garcia on April 11, 2024.

Survivors include his loving wife, Micaela Garcia of the home; one daughter, Davia Gutierrez and husband, Adam of Edmond, Oklahoma; and his three granddaughters: Adalynn, Addyson and Alexa.  He is also survived by his mother, Jeanie Garcia of Guymon; his six siblings: Ernie Garcia of Guymon, Rudy Garcia of Oklahoma City, Ruby Byler and husband, Rodney of Hesston, Kansas, Bobby Garcia of Edmond, Joe Garcia and wife, Beth of Longview, Texas and William Garcia and wife, Shelly of Guymon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

There will be a viewing/visitation with the family on Monday, May 25th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home.  Rosary services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Monday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Guymon.  Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday morning, May 26th at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Peter's Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery.
