Gene Harvey Carter, 90, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Saturday morning, October 21, 2023 at the Arbor House Reminisce in Norman, Oklahoma.

The son of Olin Thomas and Gladys Iva (Romine) Carter, he was born November 13, 1932 in Taloga, Oklahoma.

Gene moved to Guymon from Woodward in 1949.  He graduated from GHS with the Class of 1950.  He then served in the US Navy during the Korean War as a 3rd Class Metal Smith.

Gene and Sandra Darlene Storrer were married on March 11, 1977 in Guymon.  Gene worked as Maintenance Supervisor Phillips Petroleum Company, retiring in 1991.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jimmie Leon Carter.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sandy Carter of Norman, Oklahoma; two sons, Shawn Dean Lewis and wife, DeAnna of Blanchard, Oklahoma and Brandon Jay Lewis and wife, Regina of Oklahoma City; one sister, Bethine Haynes of Amarillo, Texas; grandson, Brandon Trey Lewis of Oklahoma City, granddaughter, Kaitlin Marie Burson of Welling, Oklahoma; and two great grandchildren, Avery Danae Burson and Aubrey Marie Burson.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, October 25th at 10:00 a.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home with Rev. David Player officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery.  Family visitation will be Tuesday evening October 24th at Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.
