Gary Arthur Darnell, 80, of Guymon, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the Baptist Saint Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

The son of Arthur William and Loretta Katherine (Schmidt) Darnell, he was born January 16, 1942 in Denver, Colorado. He attended South High School in Denver, Colorado, and Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in 2011.

Gary and Barbara Sue Harrill were united in marriage on December 23, 1961 in Denver. They made their home in California where Gary served as Deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. They moved to Guymon from Whittier, California in 1998.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sue on August 28, 2021, daughter, Jenny Darnell and two brothers.

Survivors include two daughters, Denise Darnell of Guymon, and Shelley Gollnick of Orland, California, one granddaughter, Kacey and husband, Alexander Anderson of Guymon, a great grandson, Hendrix Anderson, one brother, one sister, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Services arrangements were entrusted to the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
